Thank you for using SternDeutsch. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information generated during your use of this application.

Core Commitment: SternDeutsch does not collect, upload, or share any of your personal data. All data is stored only on your device locally — we have no access to it.

1Information Collection

SternDeutsch does not collect any personal information, including but not limited to:

Name, phone number, email address, or other personally identifiable information
Device unique identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, etc.)
Location information
Camera, microphone, contacts, or other device permission data
Behavioral data, usage statistics, or crash reports

      No account registration required. Open and use immediately — no personal information needed, no login required.
    

2Local Data Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device to deliver core functionality:

Learning Progress: Mastery status of each word (Known / Fuzzy / Unlearned)
Review Records: Answer history and accuracy statistics from Weave Review sessions
Daily Progress: Study streak, number of words learned today
App Settings: Language preference, theme, daily goal, and other configuration options
Vocabulary Content: Built-in and synced word data

All of the above data is stored entirely in the device's local SQLite database and is not uploaded to any external server in any form. We have no access to this data.

3Network Access

SternDeutsch accesses the network in only the following scenario:

Remote Vocabulary Sync (Optional Feature): When you manually enter a vocabulary source URL in Settings and tap "Start Sync," the app will download a vocabulary archive from that address. This operation is entirely initiated by you; the downloaded content consists of vocabulary data files containing no personally identifiable information. After download, the vocabulary is stored locally.

      Note: If you use a vocabulary sync URL provided by a third party, their server logs may record your IP address and request timestamp. Such behavior is the responsibility of the third-party service provider and falls outside the scope of this application's Privacy Policy.
    

Apart from the above scenario, the app makes no network requests and can be used normally in Airplane Mode.

4Third-Party Services

SternDeutsch does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, push notification, or data tracking SDKs, including but not limited to:

Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics
Facebook SDK / Meta Audience Network
Attribution platforms such as AppsFlyer, Adjust, etc.
Crash reporting services such as Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.
Any advertising network platforms

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's standard platform terms. Apple may collect anonymized statistics related to app downloads and installations in accordance with its own Privacy Policy; such data collection is Apple's responsibility.

5Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data, and we have no data available to share.

In the extreme circumstance where laws or regulations require us to cooperate with law enforcement, we would be unable to provide any user information since we do not possess any.

6Children's Privacy

SternDeutsch is suitable for German learners of all ages. Since the app does not collect any personal information, it applies equally to child users with no risk of children's data collection.

This app complies with Apple App Store children's privacy protection requirements.

7Data Security

Since all data is stored only on your device locally, data security depends on your device's own security settings (such as screen lock, Face ID / Touch ID, etc.). We recommend that you:

Set a secure unlock passcode or biometric authentication for your device
Keep your iOS system updated to the latest version
Do not jailbreak your device

Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all learning data stored on the device. Please confirm whether you need to back up before uninstalling (a backup feature is planned for a future version).

8Your Rights

Since SternDeutsch does not collect any personal data, traditional "data subject rights" (right of access, right of erasure, right of rectification, etc.) are realized in a simpler manner within this app:

View Data: All your learning data can be viewed directly within the app
Delete Data: You can reset learning progress in Settings, or uninstall the app to clear all data
Modify Settings: Change language, theme, and other preferences anytime in app settings

9Changes to This Privacy Policy

If material changes are made to this policy, we will notify you through the following means:

Noted in the App Store version update description
Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page

We recommend that you review this page periodically. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
