A Different German Learning Experience

Leave boring flashcards behind — build a real vocabulary memory network through planet exploration.

🌐
3D Planet Word Cloud
Each word is a planet, with semantically related vocabulary orbiting around it. Rotate the sphere, tap satellite words to jump, swipe to mark mastery — learning happens through exploration.
🧵
Weave Review System
Once you've learned enough words, enter Weave Review mode. Strengthen the semantic network between words through associative multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions for deeper, more systematic retention.
📖
Trilingual Word Entries
Every word includes article, part of speech, and conjugation, with definitions and example sentences in Chinese, English, and German — one lookup, full mastery. Color-coded articles help memorize gender.
📵
Fully Offline · Privacy First
No account registration required. All learning data is stored only on your device locally — nothing is uploaded to any server, fully protecting your privacy.
🌍
Trilingual UI
Supports Simplified Chinese, English, and Deutsch interface languages. Automatically follows your system language on first launch, and can be switched anytime in Settings.
📈
Visual Progress Tracking
Daily learning streak, today's progress vs. daily goal, word-set mastery progress bars — multi-dimensional data makes your persistence visible and motivating.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Have other questions? Feel free to reach out through our contact information.

Is SternDeutsch free?
SternDeutsch is currently free to download. All built-in Goethe-Institut A1/A2/B1 word lists (4,846 words total) are available for free.
Do I need an internet connection to use SternDeutsch?
No. SternDeutsch is a fully offline app — all vocabulary data is built into the app at installation. Your learning progress is also saved only on your device, with no account or internet required.

The only feature that requires internet is "Sync Vocabulary" (downloading extended word lists from a remote source), but this is optional and does not affect normal use.
Will my learning progress be lost?
Not under normal usage. Learning data is saved in the device's local database.

Note: Uninstalling the app will clear all local data (iOS system limitation). A data backup and restore feature is planned for a future version — stay tuned.
What is the learning principle behind the 3D Planet Word Cloud?
Each word acts as a "center word," with semantically related words arranged around it as satellite words — the stronger the association, the closer they orbit.

This approach is based on contextual association memory: the human brain retains vocabulary through networks of connections between words, not through isolated memorization. By exploring the planet, you unconsciously build a more robust vocabulary network.
What is "Weave Review" and when can I use it?
Weave Review is an intensive practice mode based on semantic word associations, featuring two question types:
Associative Multiple Choice: Identify the satellite words related to a center word
Completion: Given known associated words, fill in the missing third word

Weave Review becomes available once you have marked at least 10 words as Known or Fuzzy within a word set.
Which devices are supported?
SternDeutsch supports iPhone and iPad, requiring iOS 15.1 or later. An Android version is planned for the future.
Are the vocabulary sources authoritative?
The built-in vocabulary is based on the Goethe-Institut official A1/A2/B1 exam word lists — the most widely recognized standard for graded German vocabulary. Each entry has been manually reviewed and supplemented to ensure accurate definitions and example sentences.
How do I switch the interface language?
On first launch, the app automatically follows your system language (Chinese / English / German).
You can manually switch anytime in Settings → General → Language, with support for Simplified Chinese, English, and Deutsch.
